Artist-in-Residence
Weir Farm NHP’s Artist-in-Residence (AIR) Program continues the creative conversations started by the Weir family. It provides space for inspiration to happen, so artists can do the work of innovating, changing the cultural landscape, and generating a fresh look at the way we connect to each other and to the world.
About the Artist-in-Residence Program
Weir Farm’s Artist-in-Residence (AIR) program, one of the premier and longstanding National Park Service artist residency programs, was established in 1998 and has hosted over 250 artists. It emphasizes contemporary and experimental art continuing the 140-year tradition of artists who have lived and worked at Weir Farm. The artists work with many different techniques and medium, and range from well-established to promising developing artists.
The Friends are funding operating costs for the Park’s AIR program for six visual artists each to spend one month, from May to October, living and working at Weir Farm. A key feature of the program is that each artist has an Open Studio, typically held on the third Saturday of the month, where other artists, community members, and park visitors can informally meet the artist and discuss their artwork.
